Predicting the Weather in Astrology

Summer

One of the most fascinating subjects is the weather. We spend much of our time tuning in the weather station to try to find out what to expect each day. We are also quite fascinated by weather extremes.

The Cardinal Ingress chart can be used to forecast the weather for a particular season when it is cast for the location you live in. Using this chart you can see trends for each particular season.

The Fire signs bring heat, the Water signs bring precipitation, the Airs signs bring wind and the Earth signs bring much activity in the agricultural areas.  Over time Astrologers have seen that the sign on the 4th house and any planets in that house account for ½ the weather; while the 1st house and any planets in the 1st house account for ¼ of the weather, the 7th house and 10th house signs and any planets in those houses account for another ⅛ of the weather and the last ⅛ is accounted for by the aspects from the rulers and planets in the angular houses.

Continuing with this series on how to predict the weather in Astrology, the next season is summer 2007. I ran a chart for my area June 21, 2007; 02:07 PM EST, the time of the Summer Solstice. The 4th house is ruled by Capricorn which is an earth sign. This accounts for ½ the weather this summer.

Earth signs bring conditions for agriculture. The planet that rules Capricorn is Saturn and Saturn is in the 11th house in the sign of Leo. Capricorn on the 4th house cusp brings extremes. There will be hotter temperatures in the Summer, and severe long weather systems. There may even be a drought this summer with this sign ruling 1/2 the summer weather. Saturn is part of a Grand Fire Trine involving Mars in Aries and Pluto in Sagittarius. With all this fire in the signs, there will be hotter than usual temperatures for sure. Saturn is also opposing Neptune in Aquarius indicating more severe freakish storms that are very windy, electrical and changable. There are no planets in the 4th house to add to this part of the reading.

The 1st house or Ascendant has the sign of Libra which accounts for ¼ of the weather. This sign brings breezy, windy, dry weather. There are no planets in the 1st house. .

Venus the ruler of Libra and is conjunct or joining Saturn in this chart. This places a moderating influence on Saturn this summer. Where there may have been a very severe drought, this will moderate that influence.

The 7th house has the sign of Aries on the cusp. This sign is ruled by Mars in Aries and can indicate heat, dry weather and storms, heat lightening and with all that drying there may be a fire risk in certain areas. Again Mars is part of the same Grand Fire Trine mentioned at the beginning of the article. Mars is in the 7th house placing more emphasis on the heat/drought and fire risk aspect of the weather this summer.

The 10th house is has the sign of Cancer on the cusp. Cancer on the cusp indicates that a small amount of the weather will consist of short, sharp downpours. Cancer is ruled by the Moon. The Moon is in the sign of Virgo an earth sign and can give rise to dry, harsh windy and blustery days. Venus is in the 10th house, but this only affects 1/8th of the weather this summer, it will have more of an affect on regulating the influence of Saturn this summer as previously described.
