Forecasting the Weather in Astrology

One of the most fascinating subjects is the weather. We spend much of our time tuning in the weather station to try to find out what to expect each day. We are also quite fascinated by weather extremes.

The Cardinal Ingress chart can be used to forecast the weather for a particular season when it is cast for the location you live in. Using this chart you can see trends for each particular season.

The Fire signs bring heat, the Water signs bring precipitation, the Airs signs bring wind and the Earth signs bring much activity in the agricultural areas.  Over time Astrologers have seen that the sign on the 4th house and any planets in that house account for ½ the weather; while the 1st house and any planets in the 1st house account for ¼ of the weather, the 7th house and 10th house signs and any planets in those houses account for another ⅛ of the weather and the last ⅛ is accounted for by the aspects from the rulers and planets in the angular houses.

Looking at the chart for my area that I ran for the date December 21, 2005; 01:35:00 PM EST, there area some definite aspects that indicate what type of winter weather that I will experience in this location.

Looking at the 4th house, the sign on the cusp is Cancer, ruled by the Moon in Virgo. This indicates that there will be short sharp periods of precipitation. The rest of the time will be cold, dry and windy.  The Planet Saturn is in the 4th house indicating cold, cloudy and gloomy with extremes in temperature. Saturn brings storms when in aspect with other planets. In this chart it is squaring Mars, Jupiter and opposing Neptune which is in an Air sign. Mars in aspect to Saturn will drop temperatures drastically. So we will see violent fluctuations in temperatures over the winter, while Jupiter in Scorpio a water sign will bring much moisture to this region.

Saturn is retrograde in the chart and on December 27th 2005 is forms an exact square with Mars which is conjunct the Ascendant of the chart. This points to a sudden drop in temperature around that date.

The Moon in Virgo starts off this chart in opposition to Uranus in Pisces, indicating a sudden storm with high winds bringing much precipitation just before the start of the winter solstice.

The Moon also squares Mercury in Sagittarius which could bring some mild winds that bring a sudden thaw during the second third of the season around the end of January or beginning of February.

The last aspect that the Moon makes is a sextile with Jupiter. Jupiter is in Scorpio which brings extremes in temperature indicating that the end of the winter period could bring more extreme precipitation with a freak storm, this may be an ice storm.
